So! You’ve decided to lock your afro puff and after a few months you started observing residual build-up. Unaware that the shampoo, the oil, and all the other products you put on your locs are the result of that ghastly white stuff you see accumulating on your hair.  Dead skin and towel dust are other contributory factors. Well, the good news is, there are ways to wash your hair to lessen the built-up.

  • Use towels made from T-shirt material.
  • Keep your back, neck and shoulders clean, or you can always wear a t-shirt to avoid rubbing.
  • Avoid using products with glycerine, petroleum silicone and paraben
  • Avoid using conditioner after shampooing.
  • Always dilute your shampoo.
  • Always put shampoo in the palm of your hands and rub them together before application.
  • Always rinse your hair by submerging it in water.
  • Always use a generous amount  vinegar during shampooing. It neutralizes odor and help removes residual built-up.

Or, you could just dye it black like so many of our brothers and sisters out there.

Which ever way you go, Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Hydrating Leave-In Conditioner is a must have for that after wash feel, or that in-between wash hydration.
